What is Martial Arts / Budo?
Martial arts training dates as far back as 21 B.C. Most Believe its origin begins with the Indian Priest Daruma or Bodhidharma. Although the exact origin of martial art is lost in the antiquity of time, we are in fact certain that it was first practiced as a form of exercise and spiritual enhancement. It eventually evolved into a means of self-defense by the Shaolin monks. The monks incorporated the dynamic motion of animals into their own movements to develop distinct styles within martial arts. Later, the Japanese translated this into Karate, which was originally known as Kenpo. This is why modern systems in martial arts hold gratitude to the traditional arts of ancient China and Japan.
